This is the season to be thankful for all the blessing that we have received and all the trouble that our savior has kept us from. This is also the season for giving back to others that are less fortunate than we are. The Chapter provided 20 Thanksgiving Baskets this past Monday afternoon to the communities that we serve. The 20 Thanksgiving Baskets represent the largest amount of Thanksgiving Baskets the Chapter has donated. The Chapter provided eight (8) baskets to Inkster, six (6) baskets to Ypsilanti, and six (6) baskets to Ann Arbor.
Brothers Stafford Watts, Chris Starks, and Jeff Holland handled the shopping for the food. The baskets consisted of food for a family of at least five. The baskets were stuffed with green beans, mac and cheese, dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, sweet potato pie, and of course a turkey. We were able to secure and purchase twenty (20) 13-15lb turkeys from a corporation that supplies over 6,000 turkeys to Southeastern Michigan. The baskets were also supplied with a pamphlet that contained a Happy Thanksgiving greeting from all of the Brothers from the Chapter, our Chapter Officers, a copy of our Chapter photograph, and the history of the Chapter and some of our community involvement. The box also included tips on how to cook a turkey as well as cooking safety.
We increased from 13 baskets last year to 20 this year and I look for even more next year.
